UK: Statoil Back on Track with Mariner and Bressay.

Bressay’s heavy oil will be exported to a nearby floating storage unit before being shipped to market by shuttle tanker. Statoil expects a final investment decision in late 2013 and first oil by early 2018. The participating interests in Bressay Licences are Statoil (Operator) 81.625% and Shell U.K. Ltd 18.375%.

The inversion workflow is described in detail as applied to a complex geological region where the heavy oil fields known as Bressay and Bentley are located in the North Sea. Seismic imaging over these fields is challenging since they are rich in injectites, having steep and irregular features.

Located some 130 kilometers off the coast of Nigeria at water depths of more than 1,500 meters, the Egina oil field is one of our most ambitious ultra-deep offshore projects. The Kraken Oil Field was discovered in 1985 and is one of the biggest subsea heavy-oil field projects that is under development in the UK sector of the North Sea, about 350 km north east of Aberdeen. The field has more than 137 million barrels of heavy oil as reserves and it has a production volume of 50,000 barrels of oil per day.

Early production will be from five wells, but as many as 100 could be drilled over the field's lifetime. Equinor also plans another heavy oil project nearby known as Cadet, using the same facilities, with start-up expectedin 2026.
